DESCRIPTION
Background
The BMW 7 Series is a full sized luxury saloon, manufactured and marketed by the German automaker BMW since 1977. The first generation of the 7 Series was powered by straight-six petrol engines and following generations have been powered by inline-four, straight-six, V8 and V12 engines with both natural aspiration and turbocharging. Since 1995, diesel engines have been optional in the 7 Series.
The fifth generation 7 Series, which was produced from 2008 to 2015, consisted of standard length and long wheelbase ('Li' models) saloons. The F01 was the first BMW to be available with a hybrid drivetrain, an 8-speed automatic transmission and a turbocharged V12 engine. It was also the first 7 Series to be available with a turbocharged petrol engine and all-wheel drive (X-Drive).
The Car
This BMW was registered in 2011 and went straight to Hong Kong where it stayed until 2022, with the vendor owning it since then. It came with, at the time, the all-new BMW V12 engine.
Developed as a completely new engine from the ground up, the engine develops 535bhp at an engine speed of 5,250rpm, with maximum torque of 550lb/ft from just 1,500rpm. Combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission, this BMW V12 offers unparalleled driving refinement and premium driving dynamics. The car has covered 86,000 miles, which is nothing when spread over 14 years.
The BMW 760Li interior is designed for luxury and comfort, featuring high-end materials and technology that would have been cutting-edge for the time. The cabin boasts plush tan leather upholstery, elegant wood trim, advanced features like BMW’s iDrive infotainment system, partially digital dials, ambient lighting and a sophisticated curving dashboard. As this is the long wheelbase version, it has extra legroom for passengers in the rear.
Well proportioned, with a charismatic V12 powertrain and the kind of specification that could put a luxury yacht to shame, this handsome BMW would make a fantastic addition to anyone’s driveway.
