The vendor has carefully chosen models to reflect the car of each year, all of which have been enhanced with bespoke details.
DESCRIPTION
An impressive collection of 1:43 scale hand-built models of every Formula 1 World Championship-winning car from 1950-1992. In total, there are 44 models covering the 43 years where 23 drivers won multiple or single World Championships. The reason for the extra car; Fangio drove for two different marques in 1954.
The Collection was built over a period of five years from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. The kits, white metal, resin or a combination of both, were sourced from the UK, Europe and Japan. The kit manufacturers (a great number of which no longer exist due to competition from an influx of production line diecasts) are Western, FDS, Provence Moulage, Scale Racing Cars, SMTS, Teneriv, Meri, Superior Models and Tameo. When the project was started, 1:43 scale kits were in their infancy, resulting in some crude castings and over-scaled parts. It was necessary therefore for some enhancements and in many cases fabrication of new parts.
Each model plinth has the driver’s autograph (in ballpoint or fibre pen) on an aluminium plaque. 32 have been personally signed and 11 have been printed on the plaques from genuine autographs.

To add extra individuality, each model has either a driver figure, helmet, gloves etc. or bespoke scratch-built toolbox, starter, foot pump, laurels, portrait, clip/pit board etc.
Of the 16 drivers who personally signed the plaques, only eight are still living, which makes this Collection a genuine ‘one off’ and would be impossible to replicate.
